Srinagar : Summer capital of UT jammu kashmir. it has been named as City of stars. famous for its river system, Religious places and Dal lake commonly known as Crown of Kashmir. in 2015 govt India under PM modi lead Smart india initiative in which they chooses few cities and turn them smart. in first phase we were not included but in 2017 Srinagar smart city Initiative taken by govt under 3 phases. it was very quick work even in unrest, roads were clear, Garbage were collected even in unrest. the Srinagar which was in under hundreds of list in cleaness topped under 50 smart cities.. but this scenario didn't Work continuously and the time came during abrogation of article when pollution Level increases, Garbage was in tonnes due to absence of Employees, even Rainawari garbage at Jogi Lankar was in headlines. it was all because of overlapping policies and mismanagement by govt and SMC.. there are few sites like Nowhata Zindshah Masjid road, Rainawari Srinagar, Saida kadal, Sabzi Mandi qamarqari, jawahir nagar, lal bazar Omar colony where Garbage remains full year.. the highest problem of Srinagar is Ashan solid waste management in soura area where govt disposed tonnes of garbage every day without any scientific management that is cause of highly Pollution and Bad smell during low winds from soura to Lal bazar.. Dal lake is another problem where since 2005 not a single dustbin Have been installed, LAWDA employees didn't came and giving refrence to SMC and SMC rejected because it comes under jurisdiction of LAWDA, in centre our crown of Kashmir dal lake is ruthlessly facing step mother's behaviour by all agencies. in Dal lake NGO HELP4ALL is working day and night and Volunterly collecting garbage and awareness camps
The Srinagar smart city vision can be only achieved by the coordination of various public and private actors and ensuring interoperability between different projects under smart city mission. To establish series of Public private partnerships (PPP) in Srinagar city will be a huge challenge but best practices from other smart cities of India can be incorporated in our own transition.
The Srinagar Smart City project was approved in round 3 challenge held in April 2017. The Srinagar Smart City Ltd (SSCL), an SPV (Special purpose Vehicle) was subsequently constituted. Under this SPV the major development in Srinagar City is envisaged within the old city areas, which is to be taken up via “citizen engagements” and “alignment of purpose” of various government departments.
The Srinagar SCP envisions Transforming Srinagar into an Eco-friendly, Resilient and Socio-Economically Vibrant city that Celebrates its Natural and Cultural heritage creating Harmony and Opportunities for all’’
Three main action areas have been identified to make the vision implementable, these are:
1. Promoting Srinagar's Identity
2. Resilient, sustainable and livable Srinagar
3. Promoting Inclusion
Vision statement relates to the city's profile and the unique challenges and opportunities present in the Srinagar City.
if govt wants Really Srinagar should be smart it has to do many things.
1) improving Supervisors and sweepers.
2) large number of Dustbins should be installed.
3), Scientific management theory fir solid waste management.
4) Regular checks and balances in agencies
5) Close coordination with locals of affected area.
6) Awareness on locals levels.
