Colleges to open from Monday: Govt

Srinagar, Sep 10: The government Friday said that the process of re-opening of colleges will resume from Monday with limited in-person teaching subject to 100 percent vaccination of staff and students.



Commissioner Secretary to government for Higher Education Department, Sushma Chauhan said that some colleges in Jammu and Kashmir will resume their physical academics from Monday.
“Almost all colleges in Jammu and Kashmir will resume the physical academic activities in a weeks’ time and the gradual process of its reopening will start from Monday” Chauhan said.
In the meantime, the government in an order said, “Higher Education Institutions have been permitted to commence with limited in-person teaching subject to 100 percent vaccination of staff and students.”
“It is ordered that government degree colleges of Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir shall reopen for in-person teaching subject to specific permission of the concerned deputy Commissioner,” reads the government order.


The order further states that the Head of concerned Institutions must ensure that the guidelines related to social distancing and COVID-19 protocol are adhered to in letter and spirit.
Pertinently, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole on September -04 has said that the administration was planning to complete the vaccination process among the students and staff in two weeks to reopen the colleges and universities.
In a review meeting of COVID-19 vaccination, Pole had called for completion of 100 percent vaccination of all staff and students of universities and colleges in Kashmir.

`Srinagar, Sep 10 (KNO): The Higher Education Department on Friday said colleges in Jammu and Kashmir will resume physical academics subject to specific permission of the concerned deputy Commissioners.

Officials of the Higher Education Department informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), “Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir will be gradually resuming the physical academic activities from Monday. Some of the colleges will start functioning from Monday and very soon all the colleges will resume in-person academics”

“Higher education institutions have been permitted to commence with limited in-person teaching subject to 100 percent vaccination of staff and students,” reads the order issued by the department on Friday.

The order reads, “Government degree colleges of the UT shall reopen for in-person teaching subject to specific permission of the concerned deputy commissioners and the head of concerned institutions must ensure that the guidelines related to social distancing and COVID-19 protocol are adhered to in letter and spirit.”

Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha earlier on Wednesday has said that the administration led by him was mulling to re-open all colleges and universities in Kashmir after vaccinating students above 18-years of age.

On that day, talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function at SKICC on the banks of Dal Lake here, LG Sinha said that the government was fully aware of the demands of parents about reopening of schools in Kashmir.

“We are planning to open inter-colleges, colleges and universities this month only after vaccinating all the students above 18-years-of age,” LG Sinah has said.

The LG further said that after colleges and universities, government will deliberate on re-opening of primary and secondary schools too—(KNO)```
