Centre Orders J&K govt to Provide Free Uniforms, Books To Eligible students within 3 months of academic year.

Srinagar, Oct 04: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has asked the Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department to provide “free” uniforms to the eligible students within three months of the academic year. The MoE has also suggested to the concerned authorities to expedite the process of distributing free books among the eligible students of government schools.

                     

In an annual project board meeting, the MoE said, “Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir needs to focus on providing uniforms to the students in time within three months of the start of academic year.”

             

“Moreover, the UT also needs to expedite distribution and provide free textbooks to students within a month of the start of the academic session,” MoE said. In the meeting, the concerned department of Jammu and Kashmir was advised to provide uniforms at the earliest well within the stipulated time frame and to ensure timely delivery of textbooks before the start of academic session.

Besides, the MoE has said that as per the strategy finalized by the department of School Education and Literacy (SE&L) for Gol and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), it has been decided that the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) should be framed by incorporating and integrating the local and indigenous flavors from across the country through wider consultations.

It also said that the entire process of developing the NCFS and SCFs will be paperless and conducted using the Tech-Platform to be developed by NIC, MoE in close collaboration with NCERT.
