Srinagar, Oct  The Ministry of Education (MoE) has said that the frequent inter department movement of academicians in District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIETs) of Jammu and Kashmir has not facilitated the creation of a permanent and professional pool of teacher educators.
In a Project Approval Board Meeting (PAB), the MoE also said that the Jammu and Kashmir has not any separate cadre for Teacher Education.
“As such the adjustment of posts in DIETs is done by way of inter-transferring of Joint directors, Chief Education Officers (CEOs), principals, lecturers from School Education to TEIs and vice-versa for tenure of two years,” MoE said.
In the meeting it was also discussed that, “This frequent inter department movement of academicians, from one position to another and then back has not facilitated the creation of a permanent and professional pool of teacher educators in the Union Territory (UT).”
The Ministry of Education said that the DIETs need to be provided with experienced lecturers, teachers with minimum qualification of Master's Degree with B.ed in order to enhance the quality of Education.
Besides, the MoE further said that as a part of announcements under ‘Atamnirbhar Bharat’ and recommendations of National Education Police (NEP) 2020, it has been decided to launch a national mission under Samagra Shiksha to ensure that by 2025 every child achieves the desired learning competencies in reading, writing and numeracy at the end of grade-III.
