Another light wet spell between 5-6th Nov
Srinagar, Oct 31: The Meteorological Department on Sunday has forecasted that there will be rain in plains and light snowfall in upper reaches of Kashmir during Monday and Tuesday night.
Deputy Director, Metrological Department Kashmir, Mukhtar Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that they are expecting light snowfall in upper reaches of Valley and rains in plains from Monday evening.
He said active western disturbances are expected to hit the Valley from Monday night till Tuesday. Mostly it will hit the upper reaches of Bandipora, Kupwara, Baramulla, and Sonamarg.
“After that, there will be another wet spell between 5th and 6th November. As per recent data, there will be light snowfall in upper reaches and light rains in the plains. Thereafter weather will remain mainly dry and clear till November10th,” Mukhtar said.
“The prediction is based on Sunday’s weather conditions and it can change in terms of intensity and timing, but a spell of rain will occur,” he said.
On Sunday, the summer capital Srinagar recorded 18.8 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest with a high of 10.0 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara recorded 19.4 degrees Celsius.
Health resort Pahalgam recorded the maximum temperature of 16°C, Qazigund 18°C, Kokernag recorded 17.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Jammu was recorded at 28.1 degrees Celsius.
As per the traffic advisory issued by the traffic department, subject to fair weather and better road conditions on Monday, LMVs(passengers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
On Mughal road, subject to fair weather LMVs from both sides and HMVs (upto ten tyres) from Srinagar towards Poonch shall be allowed on Mughal road.
While on Sonamarg-Gumri road there will be only one-way traffic from Kargil towards Srinagar from Minamarg at 0700 hrs up to 1400 hrs. No Vehicle shall be allowed before & after cut off timing, it said.
