Centre reserves 35 percent admissions for JK, Ladakh students in NIFT Srinagar

GoI to set up DRC at institute to create design oriented excellence in local handloom sector: Union Min Darshana



Srinagar, Nov  The centre on Tuesday announced reserving 35 percent admissions for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh students in National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar.
The information was given out by the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Textile and Railways, Darshana Vikram Jardosh in a NIFT Srinagar’s convocation. The MoS was the chief guest of the event.
In her speech, Darshana said, “I am pleased to share that we have kept 35 percent reservation in admissions in all programs of NIFT Srinagar for the applicants of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and the students should avail this opportunity.”
The Minister further announced that the Ministry of Textiles for the Government of India (GoI) will set up the Design Resource Centre (DRC) at NIFT Srinagar to create design-oriented excellence in the local handloom sector.”
She said that all the concerned stakeholders of the handloom industry shall have access to the proposed repository from the DRC,” she said.
The NIFT Srinagar on Tuesday celebrated its second convocation for the class of 2021 at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).
Besides, the MoS, Joint Secretary for Ministry of Textiles Jogiranjan Panigrihi, Divisional Commissioner P K Pole and other dignitaries attended the convocation
