Srinagar: The Director School Education Kashmir Tasaduq Hussian Mir has launched the Home-Based Learning Module Titled “Anganshalla”. The Anganshalla has been prepared by the Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers (JKASW), supported by UNICEF with technical assistance from Eduweave Foundation.
Anganshalla is aimed to engage children of pre-primary age within their respective home environments for holistic learning, development and school preparedness till schools and anganwadis reopen.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, the DSEK said the HBL module was the need of the hour given the prevailing situation that has arisen due to Covid-19 pandemic.
He emphasised the importance of play-way methods for the education of pre-primary children and appreciated efforts of UNICEF and JKASW for initiating the pilot on HBL.
Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers (JKASW), supported by UNICEF- India aims to reach out to 6000 children in the age category of 3-6 years to pilot the first phase of Home-Based Learning across 550 locations in all 10 districts of Kashmir Valley.
Education Specialist J&K UNICEF Danish Aziz in his address explained the motive behind piloting the HBL module. He stressed the need of HBL for pre-primary age groups who have been deprived of schooling for the last two years.
Executive Director JKASW Ashfaq Ahmad Mattoo thanked state resource persons.
