Srinagar, Dec 02: The School Education Department DSEK has said that there would be additional demand for free books due to ‘Enrolment Drive 2021’.
The Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Tassaduq Hussain Mir said that the department is of the view that there would be demand for additional books for the Classes I-VIII in view of extra enrolment being done through the Enrolment Drive 2021.
In an official communiqué, Mir told the Chief Education Officers of Kashmir region that since enrolment drive is in full swing in all the schools of the division which has resulted in the additional demand of books in addition to the figures already projected earlier.
Mir said that most of the new enrolment in government-run-schools falls in pre-primary classes for which the DSEK has already issued Kindergarten (KG) kits for its newly enrolled children on a pro-rata basis.
“Besides, the additional requirements can be met out of a school grant recently released by Samagra Shiksha,” reads the official communiqué of DSEK.
It also states that for Classes I-VIII, there is also a considerable increase in new enrolment for which more books will be required. “In this respect you (CEOs) are advised to furnish the additional requirement of books for classes I-VIII to this office immediately so that the matter is taken on priority with Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) authorities.”
Pertinently, Rising Kashmir in the previous week reported about the increase of fresh enrolments by more than six percent in government-run-institutions.
Principal Secretary to the government for School Education Department, B K Singh had said that till last Wednesday evening, the department in an enrolment drive had enrolled new 37,386 students in ten districts of the Kashmir region.
Singh said that there was an increase of student enrolment by 6.02 percent in Kashmir region.
