Now, students of Arts, Commerce stream can also take admission in IITs, find out how

Indian Institutes of Technology across the country are some of the premium educational institutes that our country has to offer, and it is the dream of every student to get a chance to study in an IIT, though there is a common misconception that IITs only offer engineering courses as per their curriculum.

You can still get admission in IITs, even if you are not a student of the science stream. If you opted for a commerce or arts stream, you can seek admission to some innovative and interesting courses by multiple IITs, and the best part is that you won’t have to appear for JEE Advanced for the same.

Mentioned below are some of the courses offered by IITs for arts and commerce students.

The Master of Arts course is a two-year postgraduation course offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology, where students can choose their specialization from a wide array of subjects such as language, social work, political science, sociology, geography, philosophy among others.

Candidates must hold a valid Bachelor’s degree to apply for this course. This course is only offered by three IITs- IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Madras and IIT Guwahati- and admission can be taken by appearing for the written test.

Master of Business Administration

It is not a well-known fact but the MBA programme offered by some of the IITs is one of the best in the entire country. The MBA programme is offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur, IIT Dhanbad, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Jodhpur, and candidates can seek admissions on the basis of their scores in the CAT exam.

Bachelor of Design

The B.Des programme in IITs is a four-year undergraduate programme for students who want to explore the world of design. The course offers in-depth knowledge in fields such as design principles, photography and imaging. Students who wish to seek admission in this course will have to appear for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). Three IITs across the country offer this course, which are IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Guwahati. The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur also offers this course.
