Srinagar, Oct 25: Following the two-day wet spell last week, Kashmir is witnessing a massive dip in day temperatures and Gulmarg in north Kashmir witnessed sub-zero temperatures on Sunday night. The Meteorological Department has predicted that prevailing weather conditions will improve for the next 2-3 days.
Deputy Director, Meteorological Department Center, Srinagar, Mukhtar Ahmad told that following the wet spell, several places in Kashmir and Ladakh are witnessing a decrease in day temperatures.
“Due to moisture, mist, and shallow fog are resulting in obstructing solar radiation and causing poor visibility. The prevailing weather conditions will improve during the next 2-3 days,” he said.
Mukhtar said there is low visibility and sunshine and it will take some time. Over time, it will increase gradually,” he said.
On Monday, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 13.7 degrees Celsius and 6.5 on Sunday night; Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded minus 1.2 to make it the coldest place in the valley.
Pahalgam resort recorded 7.0 maximum degrees Celsius and the minimum of 0.2 Celsius.
As per the traffic advisory issued by the traffic department for Tuesday, subject to fair weather and better road condition, LMVs(passengers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic, it said.
Similarly, on historic Mughal road, no traffic movement shall be allowed in view of snow accumulation.
