In Jammu and Kashmir, sample size of more than 3600 government and private schools are all set to go through the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2021 on November-12 for the for classes III, V, VIII and X.
The survey was supposed to be conducted in 2020 by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), however due to the outbreak of COVID-19 that led to the closure of schools, the NAS couldn’t be conducted.
Pertinently, the last NAS was held in 2017-2018 for assessing the competencies of children at the grade levels III, V, VIII and X.
Meanwhile, Joint Director of State Council of Education and Training (SCERT) of Jammu and Kashmir in a communiqué on Tuesday said that the NAS gives a system level reflection on effectiveness of school education. “Findings help compare the performance across spectrum and across population in order to find the desirable direction for improvement.”
“NAS-21 is scheduled to be held on 12th November 2021 and would be conducted by CBSE in collaboration with School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir,” reads the communiqué.
The Joint Director also said that the assessment will be conducted for Grade 3th, 5th, 8th 10th of students of sampled schools; state government schools, government aided schools, private unaided recognized schools and Central government schools.
The Principal District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIETSs) has been nominated as District Nodal Officers (DNOs) for smooth conduct of the said assessment survey
SCERT-JK enjoined upon all concerned and Head of the Institutions (HoIs) of sampled schools of both government as well as private institutions to ensure the participation of students in the assessment survey on 12th November, 2021 by following all the COVID 19 guidelines issued by the government from time to time.
Meanwhile, the MoE has said that the sample size of schools in Jammu and Kashmir will be 3676 institutions from government, government aided and unaided private schools.
