Srinagar: Even as the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test UG-2020 (NEET-UG) qualifiers from Kashmir on Tuesday received visitors congratulating them, the success mantra these achievers shared with near and dear ones was that 'smart work and proper guidance was key to success’.
Izhaan Shabir Mir, a resident of Banihal, who secured 692 out of 720 points, achieving 358th All India Rank (AIR) in the competitive exams said “consistency in studies” is important to crack this competitive exam.
Speaking with Greater Kashmir, Mir said proper time management, consistency and smart work was the key to his success.
Izhaan completed his schooling from government higher secondary school in Jammu and later joined Aakash Institute for coaching.
“It was my first attempt at this exam and I was focused for it right since class 11th. Remaining focused makes it easier to clear NEET. I believe a student needs to be consistent to achieve this target” said Mir.
Like Mir, several other qualifying students across Jammu and Kashmir were exuberant after the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday evening declared the result of NEET-UG 2020.
As many as 15.44 lakh candidates across the country had appeared for the medical entrance exam, of which around 8.70 lakh have qualified. The NEET UG exam was conducted by NTA in the second week of September.
While Tanmay Gupta from Jammu shared the first rank with two other students after securing 100 per cent marks, several other students from Valley have also qualified the NEET exam with flying colours.
Ansab Moonisa, a resident of Tral has secured 670 points and got 1586 AIR.
“My daughter was completely involved with her studies since class 9th and she was focused to achieve her target. She joined Aakash Institute Rajbagh in class 11th and used to study without a break during day time” said Ansab’s father, Dr Shabir Ahmad Shah.
Seven other students who did their coaching at Aakash Institute have qualified NEET UG-2021 examination.
Maleeha Zahoor, a student from Kangan has secured 662 points. During her senior secondary classes, Maleeha did not join any coaching institute to get formal coaching. However, she had enrolled in test series of Aakash Institute and Allen Institute Srinagar.
“I believe self study played an important role in qualifying the NEET exam. I used to appear in online tests conducted by Aakash and Allen institute,” she said.
Maleeha said there is no specific time for a student to study while preparing for the NEET competitive exam.
“Once you feel you can grasp what you study, that time you should concentrate on what you are reading,” she said.
Another successful candidate, Suhail Ashraf from Kuzwera Chadoora in Budgam district has secured 615 points. Suhail did his schooling from a government high school till class 10th and later joined a government higher secondary school to complete his class 11th and 12th.
Suhail qualified his NEET UG exam in the second attempt. “Last year I could not qualify the exam but this year I did not repeat the mistakes which I committed during my first attempt” Suhail said.
“During my first attempt I had opted for a crash course at KIE coaching institute and this year I joined Mission-e coaching centre,” Suhail said.
Suhail said during his first attempt he did not consult NCERT books which proved costly for him. “Students usually do not consult NCERT books which later prove costly. But NCERT books and participating on mock tests help the students to qualify the exam,” he said.
Peerzada Saiyib Javeed from Naseem Bagh here has secured 602 points in NEET UG exams. He did his class 12th from Burn Hall higher secondary school and joined Right Way coaching centre at Rajbagh.
“It was all due to the blessings of Almighty Allah which enabled me to qualify the NEET exam. My sister and teachers helped me in time management and I received guidance from my teachers which helped me to qualify the exam,” Saiyib said.
Around a dozen students from Kupwara district have qualified NEET UG-2021 exam as well.
Shahid Farooq from Lalpora Lolab in Kupwara secured 660 points . Another student Kaisar Ahmad Wani of Shuloora Kralpora secured 642 out of 720 points.
